Booking and cancellations

How booking works right now

When you send the form on this site you immediately receive a request number (for example CMT-0042), and that request goes straight into our inbox. That is an acknowledgement, not a booking: nothing is charged yet and your place is not held.

Your booking is confirmed when we reply by email or WhatsApp confirming availability for that date and time. Until then your place is not guaranteed. If you do not hear from us, write to us quoting your request number.

You can also book directly on WhatsApp at 8707 4699 or by email at info@cambutemangrovetour.com. Online card payment is not available yet; for now payment is in cash on the day of the tour.

Prices and payment

All prices are in US dollars and include VAT.

• Day tour: $85 per person reference price, $75 per person paying cash on the day at our base.
• Night tour: $102 per person reference price, $90 per person paying cash.

The difference between the two amounts is a cash discount. Online card payment is not enabled yet; when it is, the card amount will be the reference price.

If you cancel

• More than 48 hours in advance: 100% refund.
• Between 24 and 48 hours before: 50% refund.
• Less than 24 hours before, or no-show: no refund.
• Changing your date is free up to 24 hours before, subject to availability.

If we cancel

If we call off a departure because of the tide, sea conditions, weather or any safety concern, the choice is yours: we move your date at no cost, or we refund 100% of what you paid.

About rain

Being on time

Departures depend on the tide and cannot wait. Please arrive 15 minutes before your time. If you arrive after the boat has left, it counts as a no-show and there is no refund.

Minimum group size

The day tour requires a minimum of 2 people and the night tour a minimum of 4. If a departure does not reach the minimum, we will offer you another time, another date or a full refund.

How refunds are issued

Refunds are always issued to the same payment method you used. Depending on your bank, they can take 5 to 10 business days to appear on your statement.

Who we are

Cambute Mangrove Tours is a family business based on the Damas Island estuary, Quepos, Puntarenas province, Costa Rica. You can reach us on WhatsApp at 8707 4699 or by email at info@cambutemangrovetour.com.

By booking a tour you accept these conditions.

What the tour includes

• A certified local guide.
• A covered boat or kayak, depending on the tour you choose.
• A life vest and all necessary equipment.
• A meal at our kitchen.
• Round-trip transport from hotels in Quepos and the surrounding area, by car or minibus depending on group size. If your accommodation falls outside that area, please check with us before booking.

What is not included

Gratuities, alcoholic drinks, souvenirs and any personal expenses.

Wildlife

This is nature, not a zoo. We do everything we can to show you the estuary at its best, but we cannot guarantee that you will see any particular species. We do not feed the animals, we do not call them and we never force an encounter: seeing them is a privilege, not a contracted service.

Safety and health

• Life vests are mandatory for the entire time on the water.
• Following the guide's instructions at all times is mandatory.
• Tell us before booking if anyone in your group is pregnant, has reduced mobility, heart or back problems, or food allergies.
• We reserve the right to refuse boarding to anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or whose behaviour puts the group at risk. In that case there is no refund.

Minors

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the whole tour.

Personal belongings

We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings. You will be on the water: bring electronics in a waterproof bag.

Photos and video

We may take photographs or video during the tour for our social media and website. If you would rather not appear, tell us at the start and we will respect that, no questions asked.

Changes to the route

The estuary changes with the tide. We may alter the route or the timing for reasons of tide, weather or safety. As long as the tour takes place, those changes do not entitle you to a refund.

Governing law

These conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica, and any dispute will be submitted to its courts.

Privacy policy

What we ask you for

Only what we need to take you into the mangrove: your name, email address, phone number, number of people, tour date and time, and your hotel or pickup point.

What we use them for

To manage your booking, let you know if anything changes and send you your confirmation. Nothing else. We will not send you marketing unless you ask for it.

Your card details

Who we share them with

With the payment provider, purely to process the charge. With nobody else. We do not sell, rent or hand over your data to third parties.

How long we keep them

We keep your booking data for as long as we need it to provide the service and to meet our accounting and tax obligations in Costa Rica.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no social media pixels and no advertising profiles. The only thing stored in your browser is the language you chose, so we do not have to ask you again.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete your data. Write to info@cambutemangrovetour.com or message us on WhatsApp at 8707 4699 and we will sort it out.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
